Minister of Economy and Commerce Mohammad Safadi stressed to Al-Watan's Thursday edition that he agreed with Defense Minister Elias Al- Murr's statement to the cabinet that the August 28 shooting of a military helicopter by Hizbullah gunmen was accidental.
The shooter, according to Safadi, assumed the aircraft was an "Israeli" helicopter executing an airdrop, because it landed and took off again in quick succession. He added that the Lebanese flag marking the helicopter was small and difficult to distinguish.
He also confirmed that the media exaggerated reports about the flow of weapons into Tripoli, adding that the armament of the city's residents was a mistake.
