Syrian Official: Hizbullah is capable of defending Lebanon and inflicting another humiliating defeat on "Israel"

In an interview with the website Syria Comment, Syrian Ambassador to the United States Imad Mustafa said that Syrian authorities regarded Hizbullah with much pride and considered the party a very close ally.
He added that if some of Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's speeches have worried some Lebanese, they should address their concerns directly to the leader of Hizbullah.
"Claiming that Hizbullah gets its orders from outside Lebanon is both absurd and counterproductive. Those in Lebanon who have a problem with the Resistance's culture should understand that it grew out of a purely Lebanese context," he said.
He added that by insisting on perpetuating this remarkable state of denial, those who refuse to accept that Hizbullah is a partner in what they consider "their" Lebanon, will do themselves and Lebanon a great disservice.
"We are confident that Hizbullah is capable of defending Lebanon and inflicting another humiliating defeat on the "Israeli" military machine if it decides to launch yet another war of aggression on Lebanon. We also believe that the "Israeli"s fully realize this simple fact," he concluded.
