The Joint Political Committee between Hizbullah and the "Islamic Action Front" held its regular meeting in Beirut.

Hizbullah was represented by Sheikh Abdul Majid Ammar, Hassan Hodroj and Mohamed Saleh; the Action Front was represented by Zuhair Aljaid, Sheikh Sharif Tuteo and Mahmoud Albadhan.
Discussions covered the latest in current developments domestically, and on regional and international levels.

The attendees issued a statement welcoming "the meeting that took place between the head of the ‘Future' movement MP Saad Hariri and Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah."

It said: "This and other meetings of openness and reconciliation will lead to the establishment of a new phase of understandings and relations, that are based on constructive dialogue, transparency, objectivity with national responsibility, and therefore will also act as a release valve to bottled anger on the street, alleviating tension and sectarian and confessional apprehension."

The statement condemned the "blatant U.S. aggression against brotherly Syria", and believed "the attack by American aircraft against innocent unarmed civilians in the Albu-kamal is proof of the U.S. administration's bankruptcy and inability to achieve any progress toward breaking the cycle of resistance in the region."

The statement hailed the recent uncovering by the Intelligence Department in the Lebanese army, of an ‘Israeli' Mossad network in the Bekaa, considering "what happened was a major achievement in the interest of internal stability in the country."
