A Beirut Southern Suburb Municipality Honors Martyr Soleimani with a Sculpture Depicting His Face
By Staff
The Ghobeiry Municipality in the Lebanese capital’s Southern Suburb [Dahiyeh] inaugurated on Tuesday the demi-sculpture of Martyr Qassem Soleimani.
The event was held to mark the first martyrdom anniversary of Lieutenant General Hajj Qassem Soleimani who was martyred in a US drone attack that targeted his car on January 3rd, 2020 near Baghdad Airport while on an official visit to Iraq.
The top anti-terror commander served as the Islamic Revolution Guard [IRG] Quds Force Commander. He was assassinated along with Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units [PMU] second-in-command Hajj Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and their companions.
Setting this sculpture serves as a gesture to honor martyr Soleimani, who attributed to helping the resistance to defend Lebanon against the ‘Israeli’ occupation and the July 2006 war.
