WASHINGTON - A leading Arab-American group wants the United Nations to investigate "Israel" for crimes against civilians in Lebanon.
The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee says "Israel" repeatedly violated international humanitarian law after it invaded Lebanon last July.
The group wants formal inquiries from the United Nations and the U.S. Congress, The Detroit News reported Sunday.
The 33-day war began after Hizbullah forces attacked "Israeli" soldiers at the Lebanese-"Israeli" border and "Israel" launched a retaliatory attack.
The ADC`s newly released report charges the "Israeli" response was excessive and especially damaged families and children. About 900 Lebanese civilians were killed, thousands injured, and 250,000 left homeless, the report says. About 30,000 homes and 118 factories were destroyed along with 151 roads, 97 bridges and several electric power plants, the report concludes.
