NAQOURA: Eighteen markers have been replaced in the western and central portions of the UN-administered Blue Line separating Lebanon and "Israel", security reports said Monday.
Lebanese Army units worked on Monday with teams from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) to place Blue Line markers where they were originally planted in 2000, following "Israel`s" withdrawal from most of South Lebanon.
Some of the markers - large blue metal plates mounted on posts - were removed or damaged during the summer 2006 war with "Israel", creating confusion over the exact location of the boundary.
Meanwhile, a well-informed security source said that a tripartite meeting of representatives from UNIFIL and the Lebanese and "Israeli" armies was expected to be held Tuesday.
In addition to demarcation concerns, the meeting will discuss the issue of the "Israeli" withdrawal from the divided town of Ghajar.
The source said that a meeting of the three sides that was held a week ago had been "quite constructive."
The "Israeli" officers present at the meeting, said the source, expressed the "Israeli" Army`s willingness to withdraw from the village, "as soon as the "Israeli" government gives its approval."
