Hizbullah & Amal: Widespread use of political money would not change the convictions of Southerners

13-02-2009
The Amal Movement and Hizbullah on Friday held a joint meeting in Nabatiyeh in southern Lebanon to launch the work of their campaign staffs.
Hizbullah's official in southern Lebanon, Sheikh Nabil Qaouk, and Amal's coordinator in the South, Bassem al-Lamaa, gathered with members of the two parties to announce they would "continue all forms of cooperation and coordination on various levels to complete preparations for the forthcoming parliamentary elections."
Amal and Hizbullah's campaign staff would cooperate across all districts in the South, according to a statement issued after the meeting.
The statement also denounced the widespread use of political money in the elections, particularly in South Lebanon, as a "desperate attempt that... would not change the convictions of the people of the South."
