Commenting on the decision of the International Tribunal (IT) over the release of four officers, Hizbullah issued the following statement:

"Hizbullah welcomes the release of the four officers after a long arbitrary detention in their cells, imposed unfairly and unjustily by the 'March 14' authority, without any proof or evidence, thereby flouting all the established laws and procedures, causing a state of attenuation and politicization of one of the most important authorities responsible for the maintenance of life and law in the country, which is the judicial authority.

The release of the four officers in the manner that it was should form a significant juncture of review in the life of the homeland and citizens. It forms a clear condemnation of the Authority responsible for the implementation of this arrest and a confirmation that the logic of vengeance, fanaticism, revenge and malicious performance neither brings truth nor achieves justice. It Proves that what is always required, even in the darkest of circumstances, is foresight, honesty, transparency and a priority given to the logic of righteousness, fairness all the way through to justice.

Hizbullah believes that the farce behind the detention of the four officers is a major scandal in this country's record and completely exposes the sources of the logic of vengeance and exclusivity, a logic also considered a deliberate obscuration and premeditated deception of the investigation, in a manner that obscures the real culprit in the assassination of the martyr Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

Hizbullah, As it congratulates the four officers and their families for their release, it also emphasizes that the priority now is to hold accountable and prosecute those responsible for the years of deception, squandering and procrastination which brought the country into strife and rift in pursuit of justice, to uncover the truth in the major national crime, and to punish the perpetrators in order to preserve justice and safeguard the homeland and its people."
