Day after another, the "Israeli" spy cells in Lebanon seem heading towards collapse...
On Monday, and while the Internal Security Forces chief General Ashraf Rifi was revealing that the infrastructure of the "Israeli" spy networks in Lebanon was being hit hard, some of the "scared" agents were running away... with the help of the "Israelis"!
Indeed, and after Kamil and Rizq A. who fled to the Palestinian occupied territories last week, a Lebanese citizen and his family fled to the Zionist entity at dawn on Monday along with another suspected spy amid a crackdown on espionage networks throughout Lebanon.
According to a security official, Elie Maroun Hayek, a 49-year-old mathematics professor who lives in the southern town of Qolayaa, some 10 kilometers (six miles) from the "Israeli" border, slipped under barbed wire between the border towns of Rmaysh and Yaron. Hayek, who is paraplegic, fled with his wife and three sons. Another man, named Hanna Kazzi, from the town of Rmaysh also fled to the Palestinian occupied territories early Monday.
Lebanese security forces stormed into Kazzi and Hayek's houses where they found the secret cache of the communication set used to connect with the "Israeli" intelligence.
Well-informed sources told Al-Manar that Lebanese authorities will submit to the United Nations a complaint against "Israel" for facilitations the spies' escape to the Palestinian occupied territories. The Lebanese authorities will also ask the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) to help repatriate those who have escaped to the Zionist entity in violation of resolution 1701.
In a related development, the Lebanese army seized hi-tech communication equipment, that took the form of an old train, from Saadnayel's national library based on the spy Ziad Homsi's confession.
Earlier, Lebanese daily As-Safir said that preliminary interrogation of former Saadnayel Mayor Ziad Homsi has revealed that he was involved in Mossad activities. The daily said Homsi had been under close watch by Lebanese army intelligence for over a year.
It noted that Homsi, who is currently deputy mayor of Saadnayel, came close to being considered the "most serious suspect" among the "Israel"-linked spy cells had he been able to continue to be a spy for a longer period.
The daily pointed to Homsi's long history of struggle against the "Israeli" occupation through his affiliation with several organizations that was effective during the "Israeli" occupation of Lebanon until Mossad, taking advantage of his financial distress, employed him in 2006.
Meanwhile, the military court, headed by Brigadier General Nizar Khalil, set July 3 the day for the trial of brothers Ali and Youssef Dib Jarrah charged with dealing with the Zionist entity. According to the accusatory statement, the two brothers held strong relations with the "Israeli" Mossad and provided it with complete information on sites that concern the Resistance, the Lebanese Army and the Palestinian organizations in Lebanon and Syria.
Lebanon has arrested 13 people since January on suspicion of spying for "Israel". An undisclosed number of others have also been detained for interrogation. Among those detained as part of the espionage investigation in recent weeks are a former general in the security service along with his wife and a nephew, whom officials say have confessed to working as "Israeli" agents for the past 15 years.
