As-Safir newspaper reported on Tuesday that initial investigations conducted with Jawdat Hakim, who is in custody, revealed that he was a key accomplice in planning the assassination of Ghaleb Awali, a senior Hizbullah figure martyred in a Beirut car bombing in 2004.

Hakim admitted that he was present in the Mouawad neighborhood on the night of the assassination on the street leading to Awali's residence in Dahiyeh.

Investigations also revealed that Nasser Nader and Mustafa Soueid, who are detained on suspicion of being "Israeli" spies, had worked separately on watching Awali.

Hakim admitted that he remained at the southern borders during the 2006 July War, since "Israel" requested that he provides it with information on a daily basis on the Lebanese army stations and Hizbullah's military power.
