Major Power Outages Reported Across Eastern Libya

Widespread electricity outages were reported across eastern Libya on Saturday, according to local media and state news sources.

Libya Alahrar TV reported that large parts of the country’s eastern region were experiencing power cuts.

Libya’s General Electricity Company separately said its central emergency and reporting center had received approximately 8,000 reports of sudden outages and emergency faults since Saturday morning, according to the state-run Libyan News Agency [LANA].

The electricity company said most of the reported faults had already been addressed through coordination with specialized technical teams.

Emergency and maintenance crews were continuing to work on remaining problems, with efforts focused on repairing faults and restoring electricity supplies as quickly as possible.

The company did not immediately provide an explanation for the widespread outages.
