During a celebration held by Hizbullah on the birth anniversary of Imam Mahdi (May God hasten his return) in Bourj Barajineh area, His Eminence Sheikh Naim Qassem said that "The July 2006 victory is a divine victory that shook the ‘Israeli' deterrence capability making its collapsing image visible to the world. This strengthened the Muslims, Arabs, the freedom seekers and the oppressed in the world, giving them confidence in their ability to win against oppression regardless of the strength they possess."

His Eminence wondered "Since you recently heard ‘Israel' make threats then withdraw them again, why so one asks? Because it found they had no effect on us in Lebanon. This attempt failed to show strength, raise ‘Israeli' morale, or affect our government formation process nor did it distance people away from Hizbullah. On the contrary, its results went against ‘Israeli' wishes. Hizbullah is now about to enter government. The Lebanese people today embrace Hizbullah and the resistance more than ever before and the resistance is ready to confront any aggression whatsoever, should the ‘Israeli' enemy consider such act."

Regarding the Government Issue, Sheikh Qassem pointed out the meeting that took place between the political aide for His Eminence the Secretary-General and the Prime Minister-designate, saying "Through this meeting we confirmed that the government formula currently agreed upon still stands. Hence, we have moved to allocations of portfolios and appointments."

Sheikh Qassem called for acceleration in Government formation, "because each day spent under a strong national unity government is a day gained by Lebanon because it will be for the benefit of the people, especially since the primary, central and principal mission of the forthcoming government is the economic and social mission. The people suffer from poverty, problems concerning electricity and water supply, education and hospitalization costs, unemployment, and an economic situation in need of special attention."
