Condemning the US sanctions on Syria, Hizbullah issued the following statement:
The imposition of US sanctions on Syria and the attempt to target [Syrian] President Bashar al-Assad is a political decision par excellence that has no relation to defending human rights which the Obama administration claims. [Syria] has been always targeted by the US administration and the ‘Israeli' entity. The sanctions come in context of punishing the Syrian leadership and its people for supporting the choice of Resistance against "Israeli" occupation and the US hegemony, and for standing by the Palestinian people as well as rejecting the US-"Israeli" dictations.

The statement added that US interference "will not stop the Syrian people and its leadership from committing to the righteous causes of the nation."
US President Barack Obama imposed asset freezes and restrictions on financial transactions on Assad and six top aides, notably against Maher al-Assad, the powerful brother of the president, who commands Syria's feared Fourth Armored Division.

This damned decision is part of the continuous US pressure on Syria since long years to force it to give up its legitimate rights and change its policies that support Arab rights in face of the "Israeli" and US occupations. The US has always been in state of enmity eith the Syrian people and leadership due to their choices and stances supporting the Resistance. The [US] claims of defending freedoms and rights of the Arab people is fake and misleading as it has stained its hands with the blood of Arabs and Muslims, particularly in Iraq and Afghanistan.
It has also supported the "Israeli' enemy's crimes in Palestine, Lebanon, and the Golan Heights, also the continuation of occupying Arab lands and ongoing violation of human rights, in addition to committing massacres against civilians, of which the latest was against the March of Return.

We are confident that this US blatant intervention, exertion of pressure, instigation and mobilization will not prevent the Syrian people and its leadership from sticking to its national commitment towards the righteous causes of the nation, with the Palestinian cause, the conflict with the "Israeli" enemy, and rejecting the US occupation of Arab and Islamic lands topping the list.
