Hizbullah Condemns Bahraini Court Jail Terms against Opposition Leaders

Local Editor
Commenting on the Bahrain's Emergency Court sentencing opposition leaders to life time imprisonment, Hizbullah issued the following statement:
The Bahraini authorities have gone too far in its repressive measures targeting the peaceful opposition movement in the country. Once again, the authorities have taken measures that target the rights and freedoms of the Bahraini people as the emergency court- known as the National Safety Court of first instance- issued life time jail verdicts against leaders of the Bahraini opposition as well as different imprisonment verdicts against other opposition figures.
These repressive measures imposed by the Bahraini authorities confirm the regime's rejection to any attempt for reform. These assure the authorities' lies and claims that it wants to hold dialogue with the Bahraini people's representatives who are jailed and tortured. Instead of standing in a position where it aims at bringing an end to the crisis in Bahrain, the authorities, with support of foreign powers has dominated the Bahraini decisions.
Moreover, while the international community should stand firmly in face of these repressive practices, the international official institutions remain to be silent. Also, the powerful states of international law which claim to defend human rights and liberties have been exposed as hypocritical as these adopt a policy of double standards.
Hizbullah condemns these political unfair jail terms and strongly denounces the silence of the international community towards. Hizbullah expresses its ultimate solidarity with the Bahraini oppressed peoples and assures the importance of supporting them until achieving their just and righteous demands.
