Hizbullah Condemns Unprecedented Arab League Sanctions on Syria
Local Editor
Commenting on the Arab League economic sanctions imposed on Syria, Hizbullah issued the following statement:
The Arab league decision to impose sanctions on Syria is an unprecedented and dangerous step, and constitutes an unjust measure against the Syrian government and people.
The Arab League's approval of these sanctions is a shameful thing and it goes against the principles [that guide] joint Arab work, not to mention that pan-Arab decision violates the Arab Leagues laws and regulations.
Hence, Hizbullah views the economic sanctions that have been imposed on the Syrian regime as an act of "vengeance targeting all [Arab] people in the region. Hizbullah considers that these measures claimed to be against the Syrian regime but these in fact target the Syrian people who have been suffering horrifying practices of terrorist groups.
And so, these sanctions only increase the suffering of the Syrians and increase their troubles. Hizbullah also sees these sanctions fall within the context of the US policy and its scheme in the region, and stresses that the peoples should beware the Arab league from turning into a tool in the hands of the US administration.
