Sayyed Nasrallah: General Aoun A Strong Candidate, We Continue to Support Him

Hizbullah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah reiterated the party's support for the nomination of the Change and Reform bloc's chief, General Michel Aoun for the presidential elections.

Sayyed Nasrallah further stressed that "there is no change or modification in our position."

"General Aoun is a natural strong candidate. He has broad-based representation, and we and will continue to support this nomination," His Eminence stated.

Last Friday, Sayyed Nasrallah described Aoun as a "mandatory pathway" for the presidential elections.

During a meeting to mark the opening of the new al-Maaref University, His Eminence confirmed that "In order to grip the strong position, presented in this internal formula with the Free Patriotic Movement, the Change and Reform Bloc, and General Aoun, they went ahead and explained it as weakness."

"This is one of our problems with them, because when you say that General Aoun is a mandatory pathway for the presidential elections, this does not mean that he is no longer a candidate," he elaborated.

Moreover Sayyed Nasrallah underscored that "he is a mandatory corridor, whether he is a candidate or not," "noting that "this is a more general expression."

"They just want to explain things" as they like, he said about March 14 officials.
