Hizbullah International Relations Officer Nawaf Al-Moussawi said that the Lebanese resistance is operating to best defend Lebanon against its enemies.
"The resistance does not work under any dictate aimed at achieving what ‘Israel' has failed to achieve," Moussawi said after meeting with Norwegian Charge d'Affairs in Lebanon Odlize Norheim.
"The Taif Agreement called for facing ‘Israeli' aggression. If the responsibility to face any aggression is a national one, the resistance is the pillar of this confrontation with what it represents as a defensive national strategy," Moussawi said.
He also noted that the Taif guaranteed the legitimate right of the resistance to face ‘Israel' and distinguished it from all other militias, adding that the resistance is part of the national consensus document.
Moussawi criticized UN Security Council Resolution 1559 and noted international concern over removing Lebanon's defensive capacities, the resistance, and ignoring ‘Israeli' threats.
"This is encouragement for an aggression that can only be faced by enhancing and reinforcing the resistance," Moussawi said.
