Qabalan: Resistance armament is justified because "Israel" still occupies our lands

Vice President of the Higher Shia Islamic Council Sheikh Abed Al-Amir Qabalan emphasized that there was no victor and no vanquished in the violent clashes between supporters of the opposition and government supporters, which left almost 70 dead and close to 200 injured in the week starting May 7, 2008.
"Even the winner has lost, for the Lebanese (citizen) has lost trust in his brother and in the world," Sheikh Qabalan added.
Qabalan questioned the justification of arms in some Lebanese areas. "The resistance's armament is justified because the enemy still occupies our lands and lurks at our borders," he said in reference to Hizbullah's arms.
The Vice President also urged the new government to withdraw all "tribe and clan weapons" and place the Lebanese army in charge of national security.
