BEIRUT -UN Security Council efforts for approving a draft of an international court on the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri is contrary to the will of the Lebanese people, a Lebanese MP said on Wednesday.
"The court confirmation would also hurt consensus in electing Lebanon`s president," Hizbullah fraction member in Lebanon`s parliament, Jamal alTakech said to Alalam TV.
He explained that the American administration is trying hard to achieve their goals in Lebanon, stressing that Washington was not interested in the investigation of the assassination of Hariri as interested in first stage.
"The most important thing for the US is its own interests", he added.
Asked about US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Welch`s trip to Beirut and his support of Lebanon`s prime minister, Foad Siniora`s government, AlTakech said,"Siniore`s illegal government is dependent on foreigner`s support and Welch`s trip was for this reason too".
"The ruling party insists on US wishes and dictations to be achieved, and ignores the legitimate demands of the Lebanese people`s," he said. "This means solving Lebanon`s crisis is out of reach for now," he added.
