Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani announced that Tehran’s policy toward backing the Palestinian people and resistance groups remains unchanged despite the martyrdom of the president and foreign minister.

“One of the fundamental principles of Iran’s foreign policy is providing support for the Palestinian people and resistance groups,” Kanaani said at his weekly press conference.

He further noted that the presence of over 60 high-ranking foreign delegations in Tehran in the commemorative ceremonies for late President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian illustrated Iran’s outstanding regional and international position.

In parallel, the Iranian official noted that supporting the Palestinian nation’s resistance against the Zionist entity is based upon the Islamic Revolution’s tenets and a moral duty and an international responsibility.

“Iran will continue to support Palestine, its resistance currents, and the rights of its people,” he mentioned.

Reaffirming Iran’s commitment to constructive interaction with regional and ultra-regional states, he said the strategic policy pursued by the late president and foreign minister entailed clearing up misunderstandings and strengthening relations with the neighbors.

He also hoped that “the prudence of the regional leaders would expand relations among the regional countries”.
