US, Iran Set for Fourth Round of Nuclear Talks in Europe on May 3

By Staff, Agencies
The United States and Iran are scheduled to hold their fourth round of nuclear negotiations on May 3 in Europe, according to a report by Axios, citing a US official.
The American official described the third round of discussions, recently held in Oman, as "positive and productive," noting the talks lasted over four hours and involved both direct and indirect communication between the two sides.
"There is still much to do, but further progress was made on getting to a deal," the official said.
Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi had earlier confirmed that Washington and Tehran would meet again on May 3. While the US official speaking to Axios verified the date and the European location, they did not specify the host country. The second round of talks had taken place in Rome, Italy, on April 19.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also expressed cautious optimism about the process, stating that the latest discussions were "more serious than before," and that both sides had "gradually entered more technical details" regarding nuclear matters.
"The ongoing negotiations with Washington have given them hope that progress can be made," Araghchi added, while emphasizing that Iran remains "hopeful, but extremely cautious."
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has warned that military action remains an option if no new agreement is reached to replace the 2015 nuclear deal negotiated during Barack Obama's presidency.
