Reports: MBS Prefers Possibility of «Israel» Support to Trump Pressure
Local Editor
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman [MBS], after receiving threats of sanctions from US President Donald Trump, has threatened "Israel" and evangelical Christians with the aim of obtaining crucial support for his survival, an Italian newspaper said.
An article in the Italian newspaper "Il Manifesto" referred to the "frank and strong support" of “Israeli” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to MBS in his ordeal. It also said that the recent visit of Christian Evangelical leaders to Riyadh, including Mike Evans, founder of the Museum of Friends of Zion in al-Quds [Jerusalem], which in turn represented support for the Saudi crown prince.
"This is undoubtedly the season of dramatic changes in the Middle East and we have had the opportunity to meet some Arab leaders personally," said Mike Evans, commenting on the visit. "We look forward to building something strong based on our relationship with them."
According to the article, the message that came to Washington from Netanyahu's statements "in support of stability in Saudi Arabia," and Christian evangelical leaders, is that "the allies of ‘Israel’ and Iran's enemies in the region cannot be touched."
"Mohammed bin Salman is indebted to Netanyahu now, and it is easy to imagine that he will do everything in his power to help him in his diplomatic endeavors, which he started in the Gulf with an official visit to Oman," the article went on. "It is clear that the doors of Bahrain will be wide open to Netanyahu in the coming days”.
A published report by the Middle East Eye explained that Netanyahu is defending MBS because he is "the Arab general of the deal that both Trump and Netanyahu are trying to reach, and because they share the hatred of Iran."
MEE pointed out that “Israeli” politicians have completely avoided talking about the assassination of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, "for fear of embarrassing their ally Mohammed bin Salman”, who may have given orders to liquidate Khashoggi, according to many "Israeli" analysts.
MBS said: "Given the leaks of the press, it is much closer to ‘Israeli’ interests in any possible agreement than to the rights of the Palestinians." He tried to sell the deal to the Palestinians when he summoned Mahmoud Abbas to Riyadh and agreed to accept the deal or resign".
MEE indicated that "reaching an agreement with the Palestinians is for the benefit of ‘Israel’ is a once-in-a-lifetime event, so Netanyahu avoided interfering in the Khashoggi case, in order to retain his ally's chances of governing, he does not want to lose an ally like him."
