Iran will strike US bases in European countries if those nations participate in aggression against it, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei warned on Monday.

During his weekly press briefing, Baghaei said Iran would not accept conditions imposed by what it considers the aggressor for ending the war, warning that countries would have no reason to fear Iran unless they allow their territory to be used by the United States for aggression against the Islamic Republic.

He stressed that Iran considers it its right to target the source of any aggressive action against the country, while insisting that Tehran did not start the war and was exercising its right to self-defense.

Baghaei said Iran had used diplomatic channels to prevent the conflict and that agreements reached with Washington were subsequently violated by the US. He said the memorandum of understanding lasted less than three weeks before Washington revoked its provisions.

He described Iran's military capabilities and popular cohesion as the country's main shield, saying Tehran had thwarted the adversary's plans.

Addressing reports of increased oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz, Baghaei dismissed the figures as part of what he called "psychological warfare," saying there was no such level of traffic.

He also said Iran had not received an official invitation to join the Mecca agreement, although proposals had been presented to Tehran, and described Washington's economic pressure as "economic terrorism."
