Iranian FM Spox: Shameful and Reprehensible Silence of Human Rights Claimants on Gaza

By Mokhtar Haddad
Iran – While Gaza continues to endure crimes against humanity and a genocidal war waged by the Zionist occupation forces since October 7, 2023—with tens of thousands of martyrs and civilian victims, mostly women, children and elderly men—Western so-called champions of human rights and international organizations are maintaining complete silence.
In an interview with Al-Ahed News, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Dr. Esmail Baghaei stated:
"The silence of those who claim to defend human rights regarding what is occurring in Gaza and the intentionally induced famine is shameful and reprehensible. Anyone with even an iota of conscience cannot bear to witness such a tragedy committed in the face of cruelty, crime, and unimaginable suffering.
"Unfortunately, over the past two years, we have witnessed an ongoing tide of heinous crimes in Gaza and the West Bank. What is most notable is that the horror of the crimes in Gaza is so overwhelming that the world has, unfortunately, lost its sensitivity to the monstrous crimes perpetrated daily in the West Bank."
He continued:
"In these circumstances, one always recalls the words of Ms. Francesca Albanese, UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories: that these occurrences form part of a colonial project to erase Palestinian identity." Everything that has happened in the past two years is nothing more than a continuation of an ethnic cleansing operation that has been ongoing for eighty years—a policy with the intent to eradicate the Palestinian people and forcibly drive them from their land and homeland.
The spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry stressed that the United Nations and all countries that hinder the Security Council from fulfilling its mission—or stand in the way of prosecuting war criminals among the leaders of the Zionist entity—bear a historic and moral responsibility for the continuation of these crimes against humanity.
Baghaei concluded:
"We, the Islamic Republic of Iran, have done everything possible by speaking with Islamic and regional countries and by using every available avenue within international institutions—whether the United Nations or the Organization of Islamic Cooperation—to convey the plight of the Palestinian people to world public opinion. We have called on the international community to move rapidly and decisively to stop the atrocities being committed against the Palestinian people and to put an end to the genocide targeting the innocent people of Gaza."
